Training
Despite a lack of capacity and personnel, managers are, in addition to their managerial responsibilities, also involved in the development and implementation of SANCA’s training programmes. During the year we trained large numbers of people from all walks of life, many of whom were volunteers who are committed to bring about change in their own communities. Empowering communities in this manner is not without its challenges, with one of the most significant being the lack of capacity to provide mentorship support.
A highlight of the past year was the development of Level 1 (entry level) and Level 2 (advanced) training programmes in substance education and counselling skills. The accreditation of these training programmes, which is still in progress, is proving to be a much more time consuming process than originally anticipated.
