General information
The general training course on Substance Abuse and Dependency ( Level 1 ) programme is intended for individuals seeking more factual information about substances and a better understanding of their effects as well as basic counselling and referral skills. No previous experience of counselling is required.
The advanced course is intended for individuals who have completed the Level 1 SANCA general training course (or equivalent), have some formal qualification in counselling and/or have been working as a counsellor for a year of more. This course focuses on Motivational Interviewing and the Model of Change which is an excellent tool for professionals who conduct on-going counseling and relapse prevention with substance abusers.
Facilitation
Courses are facilitated by SANCA Social Workers who are subject matter experts in the courses.
