SANCA Structure (National)
National level
SANCA is managed by a National Management Board comprising one volunteer representative from each member organisation and one staff representative, an elected director, from each province. The National Management Board is responsible for providing strategic direction and overseeing the overall governance of all SANCA entities as well as the effective functioning of the national body.
Eight national Portfolio Committees are responsible for fulfilling the various functions of the National Management Board as these relate to finance, marketing and public relations, human resources, the development of services, treatment, prevention, research and training.
The SANCA Provincial Structure consists of every full SANCA member organisation within the nine provinces, each of which has two representatives (the chairperson of the provincial committee and the director or head of services) who serve on the Provincial Structure. The role of this body is to:
- Support and monitor the implementation of national strategic objectives,
- Ensure that the needs of clients are effectively addressed,
- Oversee the development of substance abuse services in the province, and
- Serve as the communication link between the National Management Board and each local member organisation.
