Gold Rush Campaign

2009-06-26

SANCA National launched their Gold Rush Campaign for the first time in 2009, with the aim of creating awareness around drugs and the potentially devastating consequences of drug and alcohol abuse, particularly on the lives and futures of the country’s youth.

Ms Shamim Garda, SANCA’s National Executive Director, says the more people know about how drugs work and the effect they can have on the body and mind, the more they will be able to protect themselves and those they care about against this scourge. “While some drugs like caffeine and alcohol are legal and others like cannabis, heroin, ecstasy and cocaine are not, they all have an effect on the body and all are potentially addictive,” says Garda. As the second-year of a three-year campaign, SANCA’s Gold Rush, the SANCA Golden Ribbons will be distributed from all our offices and events.

“We aim to encourage businesses, schools and the general public to donate R5 for a Golden Ribbons in support of much needed funds to run this prevention campaign.  Businesses, schools, government departments and the public who would like to get involved should contact SANCA Western Cape on Tel. 021 945 4080 or visit the website at www.sancawc.co.za
